Dexter Box Set

The television show Dexter focuses on Dexter Morgan who is played by Michael C. Hall. Dexter works as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Police Department during the day but at night portrays a person whom he tries to catch, a serial killer.

The show originally started in 2006 on Showtime and it just wrapped up its fifth full season. This television show was adapted around a novel written by Jeff Lindsay called Darkly Dreaming Dexter.

The serial killer that Dexter plays in his nightlife revolves around a code established by his adoptive father Harry. You see, Dexter is not the psycho, needs to be locked up type of serial killer that you might think of. He only kills people who kill people and does his best to make sure that these killers get served justice as Dexter sees fit.

It is his adoptive father Harry who trained Dexter to be the man he is. Harry has taught Dexter how to mingle with people and act normal in spite of his witnessing of his mother being brutally murdered. This vision of his mother being murdered has haunted Dexter and has caused him to be a complete sociopath since then.

Dexter does have friends and relatives that keep him as sane as can be. In fact, it is these relationships that make Dexter question his own double life and his need to murder others.

Since the first season it seems as though Dexter is starting to realize some of his wrongdoings and is progressing more towards a law abiding citizen and decent human as the seasons progress as well.

The show was exclusively played on Showtime because of its adult themed content. CBS did start to rerun some edited episodes in 2008 and this gave Dexter even more notoriety and its new episodes gained even more popularity.

In fact, its fourth season episode finale became Showtime’s most-watched original series episode ever. Because of this, Showtime has picked up Dexter for its sixth season and possibly even longer.
